Historic
CENTRE
MARKET
Wheeling WV
It's not just a district- It's a destination!
Older than the State of West Virginia,
built in 1853, Wheeling’s historic Centre Market is an early,
architecturally significant (iron-framed) market district featuring two buildings—
the Upper and Lower Market houses.
These Market Houses are surrounded by a city block
full of Victorian era buildings.
It is a vibrant hub for local, independently owned businesses,
offering unique boutiques, antique shops,
cafes, and diverse restaurants.
Notes from Carrie:
Whenever I leave town for a getaway, I've come to realize that I'm looking
for another Centre Market.
I want a place where I can park my car at my AirBnB,
and not get back in it for days.
I crave a walkable district
that is full of
Coffee shops, Restaurants,
Cafe's & Quirky Stores.
I want to relax with
a Massage or a good Foot Rub
and then go have
a martini with a light dinner after.
Centre Market has all of this!
I love a good cheat sheet when
visiting an area.
Hope mine helps you
plan your escape!
This isn't meant to an entire city wide guide.
For some people,
like me, that's overwhelming.
This is a Pocket Neighborhood guide that encompasses Centre Market, along with Close & Adjacent areas along the River in case you feel like wandering
a bit-
but not too far.
